My full name is Ru Jing , but I go by “Ru”. It is much easier to remember and swift, but most importantly I took the “Jing” out of my name. The word “ jing” in Chinese means “ quiet” very much like what society and my culture expects women to be, but just like thunder when I moved to New York I wanted to make some noises, LOUD noises.
